For the MAKCU iOS app and the MAKCU web configurator at m.ghostdma.com. Effective October 16, 2026.
The app saves the following locally (in the app's own web storage, or your browser's storage on the website). It is not uploaded anywhere:
The iOS app also remembers the Bluetooth identifier of the last MAKCU you connected, so it can reconnect automatically. This identifier is created by iOS for your phone only and is never sent anywhere. "Forget this MAKCU" in the Bluetooth sheet removes it.
Settings you choose to "Save to board" are written to your MAKCU over USB or Bluetooth and stored on the device itself.
The iOS app asks for Bluetooth permission to find and connect to your MAKCU. It only looks for devices that advertise the MAKCU service, and it only exchanges MAKCU commands and replies with the device you choose (settings, live input view, macros, firmware updates you start). It does not use Bluetooth to locate you or to track other devices.
https://m.ghostdma.com/version.json and downloads newer configurator files from the same server over HTTPS. These requests contain no account, device identifier, settings or usage data.As with any web request, our hosting and content-delivery provider (Cloudflare) processes your IP address and standard request details to deliver these files and protect the service. We do not use them to identify or profile you.
When the app notices a problem with your MAKCU (for example the attached device disconnects, a USB error or dropped input is counted, input stalls, or a board restarts), it saves a short failure summary on your device. A summary contains only:
Summaries never contain serial numbers (the attached device's or MAKCU's), raw mouse, keyboard or controller input, your settings, macros, bindings or anything you type.
Are summaries sent? No. In this version, automatic sending is not set up and the summaries stay on your device. The app includes the code to deliver these summaries over HTTPS to a GhostDMA diagnostics server, which would receive exactly the fields listed above and nothing else. If we ever turn that on, we will update this policy first.
Download diagnostics (Device tab) creates the same kind of summary as a file on your device. It goes to GhostDMA only if you choose to send it to support yourself.
Support reports are sent automatically (Device tab › Help add support for my device). When you run this wizard, a diagnostics report about the device you test is sent to GhostDMA automatically when the wizard finishes, to improve device support. No extra tap is needed, and there is no setting to turn it off: if you don't want a report sent, don't run the wizard. Anything you add on the last screen – the problem type and its questions, a comment, a screenshot or photo, a way to reach you – is sent only when you tap Send details, as a follow-up with the same reference. The wizard shows whether the report was sent and its reference, and "What's inside" shows the exact report.
A report contains: the device type and the optional name you give it in the wizard (leave out personal details); its USB vendor/product IDs, product and manufacturer names, USB descriptors and report layout; timing measurements (rates and gap statistics); MAKCU's firmware health and counters; the app version and platform (for example "ios-app" or "windows"); the fixes the wizard suggested. Only if you add them: the problem type you pick (lag / delay, disconnects, not detected, buttons / mapping wrong, other); for disconnects or not detected, your answers to three questions (cable, 2.4 GHz dongle or Bluetooth; whether it also happens without MAKCU; whether a USB hub or KVM switch is in the path); any comment you type (up to 1000 characters – leave out personal details); a contact you choose to give (your Discord name or email address, up to 100 characters, used only to answer you about this report); and an optional image you attach. The image is re-encoded on your device before it is sent (a JPEG, at most 1600 pixels on its longest side and under 1 MB), so camera details and GPS / location data are removed; the original file is never uploaded, and the server removes any leftover metadata again. A report never contains serial numbers (they are reduced to whether one exists and its length), Bluetooth or MAC addresses (masked), raw input, typing, movement paths or personal data.
The report goes over HTTPS to the GhostDMA diagnostics server (diag.ghostdma.com; in the iOS app, the app sends it for the page). The server refuses any report that contains a serial number or a hardware address and does not log requests. To limit how many reports one install can send, each upload carries a random install number made by the app (not derived from your device or from you); the server keeps it only as a scrambled value in memory for at most a day and never stores it with a report. If a report can't be sent (offline, or the server can't be reached), it is saved on your device and sent later; it is dropped after 30 days. A photo is never saved on your device: if it can't be sent, the wizard tries again only while the page stays open. You can also download a copy (without the photo).
How long reports are kept. GhostDMA keeps support reports indefinitely (with anything you added to them), so that support for a device can be checked again later. They are used only to add or fix device support and, if you left a contact, to answer you about it. To have a report deleted, together with its photo and contact, email us its reference (shown in the wizard after sending, with a Copy button).
.bin, a profile export, a screenshot) are read on your device. Firmware is sent only to your MAKCU. The one exception is an image you attach in "Help add support for my device": a re-encoded copy without location data is sent with your report when you tap Send details.# in the link, a part that browsers do not send to the server.Support reports are sent only when you run "Help add support for my device"; if you don't want one sent, don't run it. The problem type, comment, photo and contact are optional: leave them empty and none of them is sent. To have a report deleted (with its photo and contact), email us its reference.
Deleting the iOS app removes everything it stored on your phone. On the website, clear the site data for m.ghostdma.com in your browser. Settings saved on your MAKCU stay on the device until you change them or reset it. Demo mode changes are never saved.
The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information, except a contact you choose to add to a support report.
